Laguna Plein Air Invitational

Dana Point Overlook  16" x 20"

Watch Your Step 11" x 14"

Bathed in Light 9" x 12" (Quick Draw)
This year's Laguna Plein Air Invitational was well organized and sponsored. The weather was perfect but unfortunately in the rush, I didn't get images of all my paintings including the award winner.

Fields and the Factory 24" x 30"
Life has been particularly busy these past couple of weeks and I have been working on a number of new pieces, a few of which are for the California Art Club Gold Medal Show. I'm not ready to show them yet but I'll be posting them soon.  Here is a larger piece that I will be showing this week at the Zions Bank Art Show in Salt Lake City, Utah this Wednesday evening.

These are beautiful, great sense of light. For plein air, do you mainly paint with large brushes, does that help you not fiddle around with detail?
Thanks!

Beautiful group Bryan! I looked for you on Sunday at the Laguna Museum but didn't see you. Your award winning painting was gone by the time I got there and I didn't get to see it. In fact, most of the award winning paintings were gone by then.

Judy,

I mainly use a Richard Simmons Flat number six hog bristle brush for both plein air and studio work. However I will sometimes use a number four flat and a number two flat.

Kim,

It was a busy week. I had a show opening at pacific edge gallery in Laguna the night before we turned in the paintings. I didn't have time to shoot pictures. Fortunately the scene I painted was right across the street from my friend Jeff Sewell's house. I want to do a larger studio piece of the scene so I'll have to do another study of the street.
